About iFixit's Technical Writing Program

Find out more about iFixit's university-level Technical Writing Program.

Background ¶

First launched in 2009, iFixit’s Technical Writing Program has partnered with over 20 universities nationwide to teach repair and technical writing. Since its inception, over 4,000 students have worked together to create more than 6,000 repair manuals on iFixit. These guides are seen by nearly 40 million visitors to iFixit every year.

Our Motivation ¶

Here at iFixit, repair is our way of life. We live in a throwaway economy, where people throw away their devices instead of repairing them. This sort of lifestyle creates over 20 million tons of e-waste every year. We want to change this by teaching people how to fix their devices. Every repair guide that gets written means more devices kept out of the landfill. Help us fix the world, one device at a time.
